Help Required To
Trace Good Samaritans
I
am currently busy with a Culpable Homicide case resulting from a motor
vehicle
accident on Easter Monday, 9 April 2007, at about 17:30 on the N12 East
approximately 500 metres West of the Intersection with the R 28
(Westonaria
Randfontein Road) Westonaria.
The
Prins family, Piet, Yvette and 15 year old daughter, Silke, from
Boksburg were
on their way home from Orkney where they spend the weekend. They were
in a
silver double cab Colt LDV and towed a
motorboat on a trailer. A black 2.0 VW Golf
with 5 occupants, travelling in the same direction as the Prins family,
collided
with the left rear of the boat and trailer causing the bakkie to
overturn. The
boat was knocked off the trailer and landed on the centre island
between the
two double roads. The Golf landed on the trailer and burnt out.
Both
Piet and Yvette sustained serious injuries and were taken to the
Millpark and
Krugersdorp Hospitals, respectively. Silke sustained serious injuries
when she
fell out of the vehicle. She was taken to the Krugersdorp hospital but
passed
away 2 days later. The driver and passengers in the Golf escaped
unharmed.
A couple who stopped at the accident scene assisted
the injured. They found the cellphone of Piet and contacted a family
member who
came to the scene. They also found Silkes pet Bearded Dragon, Rufus, in
his
cage in the grass where he also fell out of the vehicle. They later
handed him
over to the family member who arrived at the scene.
At
least 5 Police Officers who were on duty at the intersection, 500
metres away,
attended to the accident scene. Unfortunately no details of the couple
or any
other witnesses were recorded.
The Prins family is looking for the couple who
assisted them on the scene and took care of Rufus. They only recently
found out
about the couple and would like to personally thank them for their
assistance
and what they have done for them.
The
newspaper Beeld published the story on 21 December 2011, see http://www.beeld.com/Suid-Afrika/Nuus/Wie-red-toe-my-kind-se-drakie-20111221,
to read the article. An article was also published in the Klerksdorp
Record
recently. Yvette was interviewed on Radio 702 on Thursday 12 and Sunday
15
January 2012 where she asked the couple to come forward or if anybody
knows
them to contact her.
In an attempt to find these people Yvette also formed a
group on facebook which can be visited at
http://facebook.com/YvettePrins.
Anybody with information to trace the couple or any body
else who assisted on the accident scene can contact
me or send information to silkeprins@groups.facebook.com.
